To understand the phenomenology and mechanisms of movement disorders and their response to neurostimulation and other treatments.

Current Research Projects:

1. The descending pathway of the basal ganglia in patients with movement disorders. Funded by The Brain and Spine Foundation.

2. Qualitatively characterise complex involuntary arm movements and evaluate the efficacy of the therapeutic chronic deep brain stimulation. Funded by The National Tremor Foundation.

3. Dynamic correlation and interaction of the symptom-related multiple neural activities in movement disorders. Funded by The Norman Collisson Foundation.

4. The role of dopamine agonists for the treatment of Parkinsonian tremor. Funded by The National Tremor Foundation.

5. The role of deep brain stimulation for the treatment of dystonia. Funded by the NHS.

6. The use of the electron microscope to probe the brain electrode interface using explanted deep brain stimulation electrodes. Funded by Medtronic Europe Sarl.

7. Clinical and neurophysiological quantification of movement disorders and their response to cannabis and other treatments. Funded by the NHS.

8. Classification of tremors and other movement disorders. Funded by the Movement Disorder Society.
